UPSC Daily Current Affairs Digests on Shelf (Government Press, GS Tags)

Each IST morning, UPSC Shelf packages government press into exam-style briefs with syllabus tags — without scraping newspaper full text.

What the daily digest is

UPSC Shelf publishes a day pack under /learn/current-affairs/daily/YYYY-MM-DD. Each article includes Key Highlights, Detailed Insights, Key Concepts Involved, and GS / Prelims tags so you can file notes against the syllabus.

The pack is aimed at the same job as coaching “daily news analysis” pages — orientation and revision — while staying inside Shelf’s copyright-safe ingest rules.

Where the facts come from

Briefs are synthesised from GOVERNMENT_PRESS ingest (PIB, DD News, and related official RSS), using Shelf summaries and short factual excerpts — not full newspaper bodies from The Hindu, Economic Times, or similar.

Every brief keeps Reported-by links so you can open the official release. Shelf does not claim to be the Union Public Service Commission.

How AI paraphrasing is constrained

Generation prompts require original phrasing, ban long copied runs, and run a review pass for unsupported claims. Thin sources are skipped rather than invented.

That keeps digests suitable for public SEO pages while respecting the same originality rules used for admin news packs.

GS tags and revision

Tags such as GS2:IR, GS3:Economy, Prelims, and Ethics are normalised to a fixed allowlist so filters stay consistent across days.

Save what you will revise into your private library, then schedule a Planner pass or run Practice from related notes.

When the pack runs

On UPSC backends with CA_DIGEST_CRON_IST enabled, the digest job targets about 05:30 Asia/Kolkata after hourly PIB polling has refreshed the window.

Admins can also trigger POST /api/admin/content-gen/daily-digest for a specific IST date.

How this differs from chat-only UPSC AI apps

Chat apps optimise for conversational dumps. UPSC Shelf digests are crawlable day and article URLs with structured sections, then connect into your library, Tutor, and Practice when you sign in.
