07 · FAQs

Pattern FAQs

What is the exact 3-stage scheme for CSE 2027?

Prelims (2 objective papers, 400 marks, screening), Mains (9 papers, 1,750 merit + 2 qualifying languages), Interview (275). Final rank = 2,025 (Mains + Interview).

How does negative marking work in Prelims?

Wrong answers cost 1/3rd of the marks for that question: GS −0.66, CSAT −0.83. Blanks are zero.

What is the CSAT pass mark?

33% (66/200). Failing CSAT voids Prelims even with a high GS-I score.

Are Prelims marks in the final rank?

No. Prelims only shortlists for Mains (~12.5× vacancies).

What is the 10% sectional rule in Mains?

≥ 25/250 in each of the seven merit papers (Essay, GS 1–4, Optional 1–2), or the aggregate is not ranked.

How many optional papers?

One optional · two papers · 250 each (500 total, ~28.5% of written merit).
